Does anyone know why netscape/mozilla totally screws up background images at 256 colours? The same image in an img tag will display grainy but ok, as a background image you just get a mess (unless the image is designed for 256 colours of course).

my current design works great on every test I've done - no images, no jscript, all browsers, text browser, resolutions 800x600 upwards, and any colour setting on IE.

Its just this final little thing is bugging me now:
256 colors on netscape mozilla and opera.......

 :D yeah thats what I thought, but I'm just pretty pissed that it is compatible with just about any possible set up the user could have other than that....

I'm more curoius as to why this happens rather than a solution.....
