My website consists of three main frames. The top which contains all the links and the title, the left which is the MAINTEXT and the third which acts as complementary information (MAINTEXT2). It's a film review site so the visitors select which movie by a long list and the option to view credits for the film is available.

Now my question is... When a user clicks on a link to one of the movies is there a way of opening the credits to the film (which is a separate url) in frame numbers 3 (MAINTEXT2) automatically? Without adding a "Click here for the credits". I think i'm searching for a re-direct code that i can use to opening itself in target="MAINTEXT2" to be placed at the top of each review url.

This should do it for you:

http://www.jguru.com/faq/view.jsp?EID=280845
or this:

or this:

If not Google search: change multiple frames onclick

Please don't ask the same question in separate posts. Once is sufficient.

I discovered that the following Javascript works well.

Code: [ Select ]
<script language="JavaScript">
<!--

function loadframe(url,target)
  {
  parent.frames[target].location.href = url;
  }

//-->
</script>
  1. <script language="JavaScript">
  2. <!--
  3. function loadframe(url,target)
  4.   {
  5.   parent.frames[target].location.href = url;
  6.   }
  7. //-->
  8. </script>

and then the links are written as follows:

Code: [ Select ]
<BR> - <a href="javascript: loadframe(review.html,'MAINTEXT'); loadframe('credits.html','MAINTEXT2');">LINK</a>

and so my search ends. Thanks for the contributions Vladdrac & ATNO/TW
