php file and images from xml

Hi guys is there any way that I can attach individual alt tags to the images on my pages that are directly fed from an xml file

the line of script on my php list page is this

echo "<img class=".'"box_image"'." src=".'"'.$t.'/'.strtolower($make).'/'.$picture.'"'."alt=".'""'." />";
