Hi, I'm using the background tag on a page to put in a background image and can see the image fine in IE and Safari but not in Firefox. Can someone have a look for me to see what might be wrong? thanks

It looks exactly the same in IE and FF ... none of them have a background image ... and there is nowhere in your CSS or HTML where you specify a background image ... ?

Hi and thanks for taking a look. Here is the tag that is inserted. Its not in the css but rather the html

Code: [ Select ]

I looked at the image you referenced in your HTML and it seems to be showing up fine in Firefox. This is the image, right?

Using your code above and replacing the path to "images/homeback1.jpg" with an image on my own system, I see the background in IE, Opera, Safari and in FF.

Is your online code different from that you are using locally?

Edit:

Try a hard refresh in FF... maybe that'll fix it up?

No the code is the same but for some reason my firefox must be cutting out the background image. Both images that should show up, the background and the other two images on there do not show. I'll go back and check the settings in firefox in case that is the problem.

Thanks again

Best

OK guys, I feel like an idiot. For some reason in my FF preferences the load images prefs were set to off. I can't imagine why that was as I use it always for testing but thanks to you all I realized that it was not the code.

Thanks again

just to let you know ... you can add the background image through CSS aswell ...
CSS:
Code: [ Select ]
td.background1
{
background-image:url('images/homeback1');
background-repeat:no-repeat;
}
  1. td.background1
  2. {
  3. background-image:url('images/homeback1');
  4. background-repeat:no-repeat;
  5. }

HTML:
Code: [ Select ]
<td class='background1'>
bla bla
</td>
  1. <td class='background1'>
  2. bla bla
  3. </td>

that way, if the image needs to change, it doesn't have to be changed on each page ...
