could you be a bit more specific as to the goal?

Other wise:

HTML(not a programming language)
CSS(not a programming language)
Javascript();
PHP
ASP/VBScript

For server-side scripting, I'm 100% PHP these days. Never did like ASP or JSP, and after playing with PHP for 5 minutes, I ditched Perl (and that's quite a while ago now)...

Client-side... depends... If it's for a real-world live website on the Internet, JavaScript.

If it's a HTML content based CD-Rom for a client, that I know is only going to be run on a certain type of system (Internet Explorer on a Windows box) then I may use a lil VBScript if it's needed (for those annoying lil Micro$oft agents like in office), but even then I'll use mostly javascript.

ahhh, ok. When you use Front Page, or Dreamweaver as a WYSIWYG (What you see is what you get) you're using HTML and CSS.

This is generally fine as most browsers are now, for the most part, conformant to these standards. However, you'll want to test dilligently in as many browsers as possible to ensure that there are no weirdnesses.

If your target audience includes older browers, you'll need some more HTML/CSS prowess to ensure proper display in those clients as well.
