question about psd file

ok i have a psd file which has some attributes on the text and it is like 40x100 but i need to make another image using the same text that is a lot bigger. is there any way to get the attributes that are saved on my small psd file transfered to my big one? i tried changing the size of the image but it just makes the text im using huge. i hope im making sense, im a noob with photoshop. thanks

Well what you can do is take your current image and either drag the selected portion into another image that you have open and I believe it will retain the attributes. The other way you can do it is by simply expanding the image you are working with. For example if i wanted to take a 40x100 image and make it 80x200 I would do the following:

Image>Canvas Size

Once there specify the new width and height you would like. On the diagram below that you can specify where the new space will go on the image... like above the current image, or below it or to the right of it, or a combo of both, or equally around it. However you want.

I believe that might be all you need to do. Not sure. Let me know how that goes.

i just made the canvas size bigger, that was all that i needed. thanks for the info.

sorry i missed this, sir. I'll try to be here more often from now on.

Adjusting the canvas size is def the easiest way. I don't think dragging and
dropping from on .psd to another works, but i could be wrong. Even as far up as
v7 of pshop, there really isn't a way to share resourses between files. I kinda wish
they would make that possible.
