Does anyone have any suggestions for reducing bandwdith for a phpbb site? I've already disabled signatures and avatars, and I've taken out the comments from the templates. I can't use gzip becuase the server already gzips everything going out. Im paying 5 dollars a month for 5 GB and I'm very close to the limit right now.

You can find the link in my siggy.

If you keep going like that you are surely going to ruin your visiotrs experience at your site.

Why not pay 10$ a month and double your bandwith? :P

Its just the visitors going too you're site, which is using the bandwidth.

Some hosting places do cheap bandwidth, if you want your members to benifit.

You should be *glad* that you are exceeding your bandwidth!

The only options I see are:
1. Ask visitors not to come back so frequently ;)
2. Purchase some extra bandwidth

If your forum is a non-profit org, you may want to send out an announcement to your members explaining your problem.... and ask for a small donation to help you continue offering your services. With 71 members, you could ask for something very reasonable - like $1 - and get enough money to purchase some extra bandwidth,

Just a suggestion - Hope this helps.

I must admit that 5 gigabyte is not alot if you want to run a popular phpbb-forum .... I suggest to change provider and invest a little in hosting.

Yeah, 5Gig/mo is not, however, it's a lot compared to how many posts you're getting - you seem to be getting a lot of people viewing, but not many posting...

ReptileRooms.com is currently using about 18Gig/mo, and receives around 20,000 unique visitors per month (around 8,000 unique page views per day).

ReptileRooms.com isn't even a very busy site either, Alexa ranks it around 350,000.

I would definitely look for a better hosting package somewhere.
