I have seen Gateway and others have this feature on their website where the user can go into their website and download a plugin or some sort of application that will allow the support technician to control my computer and work on my computer. Once I terminate the application on the client side, the application is deleted from my computer. Does anyone know how this is done?

Thanks!

It's an ActiveX control. It installs a little server on your machine that the tech can connect to. It works, more or less, like a terminal server (Remote Desktop in XP-speak) or SMS, or DameWare or PCAnywhere, or Back Orifice or any of the other remote admin applications that have a graphical RD interface. Who knows where Gateway got there's, but if you install via the web, then it's probably an ActiveX control of some sort.
