is their anyway to use div or span to create the same effect as overflow: auto, but without the horizontal scroll? everythings running fine right now, except when the vertical scroll bar hits it causes just enough flux to make the horizontal necessary.

You should only be seeing a horizontal scrollbar if there is content that is a fixed width and can't wrap within the space. For instance, a graphic or string of text.

The solution would be to narrow the content, or widen the DIV.

i tried narrowing the content, it wont work. can't widen the div either. but ya, the vertical scroll comes first, then the horizontal, only because the vertical makes it.

Are you applying any paddings or margins within the content itself? Otherwise can you post the HTML?

no paddings or margins, but i found a workaround. thx for tryin tho :D
