I tried this and I still have problems...

It may be my security systems over my LAN. I got it set so high that it probably is blocking the port 80 that the Forums use. ;)

I dont think it blocked port 80 lol ;)

Alan2 -- security shouldn't be the issue. OK, we know your forum works on the computer you set it up on, correct? You can see and access it on that computer. I have to assume that the other computers can access the normal file structure on the LAN, correct? In other words they are all communicating.

So, on the computer that your board is installed on, you can access it by typing in one of two things in your browser:

Number 1
Quote:
http://localhost

Number 2
Quote:
http://computername

This assumes that your phpBB board is in the root. If not you'll have to add the directory, i.e.:

Quote:
http://localhost/phpBB_dir/index.php
or
http://computername/phpBB_dir/index.php

But when you are accessing from another computer in the LAN you have to skip the localhost part and use "computername"

What you may be missing is you also need to be sure to type the "http://"

There's should be no port involved. I run all my ASP scripts on one computer via Win98se's Personal Web Server (I don't have php support on my home computers so I use ASP instead), and the above is exactly how I access them all. Now, no one from outside your home LAN is going to be able to access it, but every computer within your home network should be able to.
