streaming video

Post February 4th, 2004, 10:35 pm

I have a movie that was designed for streaming video, but I don't know how to make it streaming. I know my host is web-streaming compatible, but thats's about it. Any help appreciated.

i'm using "americandiscount-webhosting.com" and while they're a little odd, I found I can do pretty much everything there. On their home page, it says "streaming video" under the gold member allocations list, so I'm pretty sure I can do it. I could use windows media as well, but I prefer to use quicktime. I'm running a mac ( as you can probably tell) but not everyone who is going to watch the movie is, so Windows Medial might be a good idea too.

You know now days most hosting companies have strong enough servers to handle pretty much any script, including video stream, i would go with godaddy, cheap and strong servers ;)

Look in your web admin for MIME type settings if you don't see the file extension you want to use, shoot an email to your web host.
I recommend flash video extension FLV. We used it on our corporate site
http://www.browsermedia.com/cs/what_we_ ... s/products (bottom left)
and it was a pleasure to use because we had alot of control with UI and loading. Plus 95% of users have flash.

There are also free flash video players you can download
