Well, I've never seen it but I was wondering if there was a way to stretch a background image like you do w/ wallpapers on ur desktop.
I would prefer not to tile the large background im using for a site but wish it to work well with different resolutions.
Thanks for any help

There isn't a stretch attribute for CSS backgrounds (that i'm aware of at least) you can however stretch an image.

Code: [ Select ]
<style type="text/css">
body{margin:0px;}
#background{position:absolute; left:0px; top:0px; z-index:-1; width:100%; height:100%;}
</style>

</head>
<body>
<img src="background.png" id="background"/>
<p>Text Above Image</p>
</body>
  1. <style type="text/css">
  2. body{margin:0px;}
  3. #background{position:absolute; left:0px; top:0px; z-index:-1; width:100%; height:100%;}
  4. </style>
  5. </head>
  6. <body>
  7. <img src="background.png" id="background"/>
  8. <p>Text Above Image</p>
  9. </body>
