does anybody know what the effect is called when you click on the arrow and a list of things drops down does anybody know wat this is called n wat language is it

Do you mean a drop down menu? If so there are several languages to do it in. Javascript being one, flash is another way, you can also do it in CSS I believe.

Try doing a google search on drop down menu tutorials and you get some good places to start.

no not drop down menu's thats using lists i mean like a messenger when you click yahoo

No, but I think I know what you're talking about... the information in the select thing like fades and/or slides?

It can be done in pretty much any language. Since we're in the web design forum, I'm assuming you want to do it on a web page.

The example above is a component in Adobe Flex, so it's not actually HTML. If you want to do it in HTML, you'll most likely use Javascript and CSS.
