how long is a piece of string.....................seriously it depends on how long content takes to come to you, what sort fo template you want for your site, whether you want levels of interactivity, what hosters you use can impact on what you can do on your site. these are probably the main factors, there are others but consider these first.

When you say "design" I assume you mean the visual layout only.

For me to do an original design it would take anywhere between 2 days and 1 month. It would entirely depend on the scope of the site and the number of variables and facets that had to be accounted for.

The approval process would be proportional and depend on whether the client was an individual or a committee - and their desire to micro-manage.

Agree with dM. Its all scope and also how long the client takes to reply with changes or final revisions.

Are you talking about an image rough or taking an image or idea and creating a designed website from it?

How long is depends on your planning of the designing. It mainly depends on the time taken to prepare quality content to your site.Once you are reasy with your content then you can start your design and it wont take much time to you.The time is also dependa on the company you choosen forn your web design.Experts can make your site ready in a days also.
