The page in question is here:

and it has an iFrame embedding a spreadsheet, that is a solar energy calculator:

"<iframe width="625" height="1200" frameborder="1" scrolling="no" src=""> </iframe>"

Is there a prettier way to do this? The user will need to be able to use the zoho sheet and alter values to use the calculator.

Our coding skills are 2nd grade level... We can hack some very basic stuff but we cannot, for sure, write this calculator in Javascript.

If any of you have any ideas on how to make this a little pretty, or easy to use, I'd love to hear it.

Also, if any of you know how to pad an iFrame so it renders about 30 pixels to the right (so it doesn't display the row numbers) that would be awesome. I can't find anything on the web.

I don't think you can pretty this up much. You could add a fancy border, but that's about it for the iframe element.

Code: [ Select ]
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "">
<html xmlns="">
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" />
<style>#myiframe{width:800px;height:1200px;border:1px dotted #CCC;padding:3px;}</style>

<iframe id="myiframe" src=""> </iframe>
  1. <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
  2. <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "">
  3. <html xmlns="">
  4. <head>
  5. <title>iframe</title>
  6. <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" />
  7. <style>#myiframe{width:800px;height:1200px;border:1px dotted #CCC;padding:3px;}</style>
  8. </head>
  9. <body>
  10. <iframe id="myiframe" src=""> </iframe>
  11. </body>
  12. </html>

The only way to pad the contents of the iframe is to pad the page you're opening inside. It doesn't look like you have control over that.

I think having this embedded in your page makes it awkward to use, if you want usability. I think you should go with a pop-up so the user can have more width.
