CFM is usually a web page that's processed by Coldfusion before it's sent to a browser.
Same concept as ASP or PHP, just a different language.

Web page that contains ColdFusion code, also called CMFL (ColdFusion Markup Language); can run ColdFusion applications and other scripts written in CFScript; may reference database information, generate Flash forms, and create reports on the fly; used for creating dynamic websites.
