What language uses redir.asp? I get a hint that it's asp. Is ASP and ASP.Net the same? Which is more prefered for a person starting out? And does ASP.Net work with PHP? Does MYSQL work with both as a database? Thanks.

ASP (Active Server Pages) and ASP.NET are not the same beast.

ASP.NET requires the .NET Framework, and is considerably more complex than ASP.

I believe that both could theoretically work with MySQL, however, I've only ever seen either used with MS-SQL.

What is the .NET framework? What is it used for? So is redir.asp ASP or ASP.net? TIA.

redir.asp is plain ASP. ASP.NET pages tend to be named "*.aspx"

I think it's like an extended form of ASP, because of the X at the end ;P

Well ASP.net is the next step up of Microsoft's Active Server Page (ASP), a feature of IIS.

ASP.net is different from ASP in two ways: it supports code written in compiled with the likes of C++, Visual Basic, and Perl, and, it features server controls that can separate the code from the content, allowing WYSIWYG editing of pages.

It's also sometimes called ASP+ :)

digitalmedia is right, redir.asp is an ASP page. If you have any ASP.NET questions you're best bet is to surf over to the official site
