When designing,should you only use web safe colours?

When you are designing sites should you only use web colours or it OK to use a colour like #9D9493?

That really depends on your target audience.
I for instance, use whatever color I want. The reason for this is that my target audience is online RPG players, and the RPG's we currently support require pretty decent vid cards with decent resolutions. If they have a problem seeing the colors on my site, or it looks ugly because they are stuck in 256 colors, then they DO NOT play the games that my site is about (at least not on that computer) and will probably leave anyway.

That's my 2c. I haven't had any complaints about colors yet.

i would not worry about colors. I use photoshop to create logos and other pics and originally i had been saving my pics as some format... i think it was compuserve gifs or something with 256 bit color because i was paranoid that people might not be able to download the picture. Well those pictures are low quality and i recieved plenty of "suggestions" to make the site look more professional. Now i just save as a jpeg at a high enough quality to definatly not look pixelated or crappy and my website seems to have many more positive comments. Also i use Netscape 6 which I think is simpler than hte current IE and have yet to come across a color problem. So as far as i can figure use all the colors you want!

I use all colors I want since most ppl got a decent comp. that can view the site good anyways now days.
