If that's your site at the bottom of your post, it wasn't slow at all.

It did load a little slow for me on broadband and that's a bad sign. I mean not painfully slow, but I could see the lag in the images loading. All though they aren't huge in file size you have several over 23kb and with all of them loading at once, it's causing a bit of a delay. In total I counted 31 images, and a rough guess at total page file size is at least over 300kb. Take a look at your larger images and see if you can cut back on the file size without losing quality.

Lose the hit counter. It's causing a significant delay when your site first loads and just looks plain old 90's.

Anyone who isn't using it yet should take a look at YSlow for Firefox. It will help you diagnose speed issues and even suggest things you can do to improve performance.

For example the weaponsofusmilitary site says:
236.1K Total size
34 HTTP requests

On the surface that doesn't seem too bad, but I bet that it could be easily half that size with a little better image compression. You could start by making all your images the size you want them to be instead of try to resize a larger image with HTML. IE if an image is going to be 100x75px on the site open the image in Photoshop and MAKE it 100x75px.

Google Analytics is a good start.

It could be the servers problem, slow upload or too many firewalls.

I prefer StatCounter to Google Analytics. I feel that StatCounter's interface is much simpler to use, although I should add that Google Analytics offers more advanced statistics.
