Wide splash screen image on home page.

Do you guys have any idea whether or not a home page image much wider than it is high would look alright on a home page? Or would it look amateurish?

this is why we check the size in the browser and more then one type of browser. i don't make my tables larger then 800 wide. As for height the better quality top box depends on the size something simple should be smaller and less complicated and larger ones could go as high as flash top boxes with interactive menu.

it is not one size fits all in this case.
