Dear Webmasters,

It is really important that visitors immediately understand what a web site is for. If a visitor does not understand what a site is for in 3-4 seconds... then click goes away.

I kindly ask you to make a test: please visit the site just for few seconds, count up to five, then close the page and tell me what you have seen. What am I selling? What is my target customer?

Thanks a lot,

Michele

From the moment I hit the site I knew what it was about. A nice way to collect email addresses for spam lists

Not that I am pessamistic of course :D

Nice and clean site design, easy to navigate. Was quick loading and viewed quite nicely on my 800x600 resolution.

The first impression was wrong ... I will have to do something to avoid this first feeling.

Let see the next one...

i might have been closing it too early, and my thought might have been too much on the 5 second rule.

but you sell refferals. or give em away or what not.

Since you didn't ask for a site review like usual I took your advise and looked at the page for 5 seconds and then closed.

I thought spam/trick/email harvesting and a million other bad things.

I went back to the site and read a bit more...

"123referme.com provides web site viral marketing services based on tell-a-friend referrals. The effectiveness is boosted by a monthly reward.

Those word tell a novice user that there is a virus to be had and they will run and it tells an advanced user to move on and try a better business approach. The problem with a site like this is that in the real world it equates to tellemarketing!

As for the site itself I like the look and layout if given more than 5 sec to read.

Good luck.. :)

Ok, this is not the first comment against the phrase "Viral Marketing". I have now decided to remove it. I hope the site looks less dangerous :)

Thanks

Your comments, suggestion and corrections are very helpful. As a consequence I have prepared a draft of a new home page.

It partially addresses the color issue, the issue related to the main heading text and the typos.

I would love to hear your impression before I publish the new home page.

Which one do you like the most?

Current Home Page: http://www.123referme.com/default.htm

New DRAFT Home Page: http://www.123referme.com/default1.htm

Thanks

Hi Michele,

Your page looked fine before and it still looks good now, was a good idea to reword some of the content.

Good luck with this venture. :D

When I first opened it, It looked like just another advertisement website. One of those annoying add websites, that I always click out of.

Just my 2 cents.

I think it'd be much spiffier if it was full screen! :)
