hang on while I put my sunglasses on to see the image...

ok whew....well, they are certainly COLORS! ;) I think they're a bit bright
and too bold, but if the concept figures in with the colors and meshes
well, then I would have no probs with it. Just on first impression I would
say that they're too loud.

yea they are quite loud. I was just rummaging through a variety of colorscheme/text combos in my head. I still have to come up with a new layout, and that colorscheme probably wont even exist in it. Does anyone know if wingdings/webdings are a default font for other OS's? And what about symbol?

Ahh scratch all of that! Thanks to my oh so powerful 600 DPI scanner I managed to make a concept sketch I did a bit bigger for your viewing pleasure! Let me know what you think (sorry for the handwriting!).

Lol, the sketch was slightly hard to read, but I love it! The alarm thing seems to be a pretty original idea and it fits well with your theme. Good luck with making it come to life! :D

Yes, those are some great ideas on sketch!

Post it if you ever get something to the effect running... I was never much good at blending in images to match page borders or menus...

would anyone be turned away from my page if you need to go through something like this (the 'you made it' page is just for example, the main thin I am worried about is the 'reload' when the x_res variable gets passed.)

I do not know if I would be turned away from the page, but if I was designing a site I would avoid that for sure. That's just my preference.

The best way is to just design the site to be able to look right in multiple resolutions. With Ozzu I did use some JavaScript on the page to adjust which Ozzu logo gets displayed depending on the resolution however, but normally I would not do that.

my only worry is the top bar not spanning the whole page, now that its my 'good thinking time' (past 12:30) I realize that that was a pretty rediculous way to just make sure that the top bar spanned a good distance. So basically I'll do some thinking (maybe another morning tho, pretty tired right now, darn state fair!) but until then what would your approach be? just let it cut off ?

What you could do is make a background for the bar that repeats itself. Then on top of this background you put in your image or whatever which eventually blends into the background, so no matter what resolution you have your site at it will look right. Like with the current Ozzu logo design, there is basically two parts to it. There is a background that repeats itself and then the actual logo text itself "Ozzu Webmaster Forum" which sits on top of it but blends right into the surrounding background which makes it so you cannot tell that its not just one huge image.

Now like with yours, you could keep it still centered like you do, but then the background would span the whole page out from both sides making it take up the full screen.

I hope I understood correctly what you were talking about.

yep you understoond it great! I'll have to see if there is a way I can do it with div tags. Thanks for the help, I'll get some sample images of how the layout is going pretty soon!
