Using rtm223's website's CSS tuts, I redid my new site layout. Im currently still trying to get some things to validate, so that's why none of the Valid links go anywhere, but I hope to eventally get it. please review :D

Wow..that's very yellow :)

I like the yellow tape for the header--it's cool. The nintendo character however, isn't that copyrighted?

Good for you trying CSS. You won't regret that.

Image Pretty cool site.. One problem, I dont know if it's just me, but when I first looked at your site I didnt know there where links to other sections of the site :oops: Maybe some rollOver effects to expose those links better...(but it could be just me :? ) Good work overall! It'll definitly attract gammers (including me) :) to the page.. I like the yellow on the page even on the forums, one thing you should add is a link back to your home page from it...

Good stuff 8-10

I know I am new here but.

This looks nice as far as for a new site.

I would agree with SycomCOmp on looking at some sort of Roll over type effect on your header. I too did not realise that the one strip of caution tape were links till I looked closer.

I too just started using CSS files for one of my sites and find that they do make life SOOOOO much easier.

I looked at the nintendo release and I would say that since they dont endorse usage of there images and so forth that I would put a disclaimer on my site if I were you just to attempt to cover my butt. It seams to me though that there not to teribly worried about it though cause how many site are out there that use images from Nintendo....... Image MILLIONS! anyway like I said I would highly recommend putting a disclaimer.

Good work ![/img]

Not just you, I think it's the links looking like the caution tape above them, some hover effects would really help. In terms of image maps, you may want to try messing with the first two search results from this page, some nice fancy CSS and helps for accessibility.

Although I think the yellow/black works well on the front page, the forum kinda hurts my eyes after a while.

back onto code:
Code: [ Select ]
<div id="left">
  <img src="http://www.bizarroproductions.com/divtest/left.gif" alt="" />
</div>
  1. <div id="left">
  2.   <img src="http://www.bizarroproductions.com/divtest/left.gif" alt="" />
  3. </div>

It's worth noting that for layout graphics you might as well use a background image on the div, and save yourself the img tag. It makes little difference on this site because you are using frames, but is worth bearing in mind for sites where every page has to reload the html. Check out what I've done on my site as an eg.

What might be nice, is finding a way to get the page (iframe) contents to scroll behind the slanted banner, rather than just dissapearing.

Overall nice, now write out 100 times "frames are evil, I will never use frames again" :lol:

Yes, I like your site too. Only one thing: make color schema for the forums not so bright.

Best of luck with your site, really nice :)

Very unique. Don't forget to type some text in the img alt's. This is an excellent place to add search engine keywords to give your site added visibility.

Frames are bad. Very, very bad. Keep up the good work.

I agree with the site's concept being very unique, I love the idea of using the CAUTION TAPE like the way you did. Great stuff. Originality is a great thing.

Color palette is very well established and yes, once again, a comment on the frames.....remove them!

Interesting point about the Nintendo character in terms of copyright...it would seem as though (after reading that article posted) that Nintendo forbids it....

Copyright isn't just applicable when you are trying to make a profit or say it's yours. Even copying a copyrighted image and not using it for anything is technically copyright infringement.

Now, if you change 10% of the work, it is not copyright infringement, but how do you manipulate an image/logo/character/likeness/etc without copying it in some way first? My advice would be to avoid using the imagery that you have, but I know you won't listen. Good luck man 8)

Thanks for all the feedback about my site. A lot of you have been saying how I sould have someway to indicate that the links are there, so I read the tutorials that rtm223 left and came up with this:
http://www.bizarroproductions.com/tests/hoverbar.html
which I will add to my layout soon.

For all of you that have been telling me that frames are evil....i know i regreted using them so much, but it was the quickest way I knew of allowing the page not to reload everytime a link was clicked, because if it was reloaded (when using PHP includes) it messed up some aspects of the site.

As for the copyright stuff, I dont think im going to worry about it (like jlknauff had said i would do) becuase I dont think nintendo really enforces that too much when it comes to small portfolio-ish type sites like mine, and because I like them there :D

Thank you all again for your feedback
