Sincerely, to Its hard at first glance, to guess the topic of your website. In portfolio, the orange pictures does not link with the style of the website. Also, the position of the label "copyright" is not very good, I would place it at the bottom.
The background doesns say anything. Its very simple, according with the notebook.
