http://www.davidkicksass.com - version 3. More useless crap that the previous.

Hey guys i'm seein if I can get my site reviewed.

I've had it reviewed in the past and been told to try and get something to make people come back and look some more, get some traffic, and most of all I broke my biggest habbit..

NO MORE USE OF IFRAMES.

I hate 'em now.

Since I've started learning PHP/Mysql, ive been trying my best to put out (in a program way...)

I've even written my own news script (which im using on there right now.)

So tell me what else I can do to get anything else better.

I like your choice of colors, and the forum matches the site very well!

Why didn't you make the page wider? currently it's 600 px wide, minimum monitor width is 800 px. I recommend you to use that extra space!

Why do you use a start page to enter the actual website?

I don't like tables! Learn some more css and make your layout with pure css!

Make a contactform on your contact-page, it's not that hard to make with php. And it will lower the threshold for people to get in contact with you!

The colours on your site are nice, but it looks INCREDIBLY narrow. I know not everyones resolution is 1600x1200, but your site doesn't scale well at all... your site looks much better in an 800px window, but the majority of people are using 1024x768 now.

Mail function goes kinda like this:

PHP Code: [ Select ]
//Make short variable names

$name = $_POST['name'];

$email = $_POST['email'];

$text = $_POST['text'];

$date = date("H:i, j F, Y");

$ip = $_SERVER["REMOTE_ADDR"];

/* recipients */

$to  = "info@domain.com";

/* subject */

$subject = "Feedback on website";

/* message */

$message = "

<html>

<head>

<title>Feedback on website</title>

</head>

<body>

<p>$name has sent you a mail on $date:</p>

<p>$text</p>

<p>IP: $ip</p>

</body>

</html>

";

/* To send HTML mail, you can set the Content-type header. */

$headers  = "MIME-Version: 1.0\r\n";

$headers .= "Content-type: text/html; charset=iso-8859-1\r\n";

/* additional headers */

$headers .= "To: Name <info@domain.com>\r\n";

$headers .= "From: $name <$email>\r\n";

$headers .= "Reply-To: $name <$email>\r\n";

/* and now mail it */

mail($to, $subject, $message, $headers);
  1. //Make short variable names
  2.
  3. $name = $_POST['name'];
  4.
  5. $email = $_POST['email'];

  46.

  48.
  49. </html>
  50.
  51. ";
  52.
  53.
  54.
  55. /* To send HTML mail, you can set the Content-type header. */
  56.
  57. $headers  = "MIME-Version: 1.0\r\n";
  58.
  59. $headers .= "Content-type: text/html; charset=iso-8859-1\r\n";
  60.
  61.
  62.
  63. /* additional headers */
  64.
  65. $headers .= "To: Name <info@domain.com>\r\n";
  66.
  67. $headers .= "From: $name <$email>\r\n";
  68.
  69. $headers .= "Reply-To: $name <$email>\r\n";
  70.
  71.
  72.
  73. /* and now mail it */
  74.
  75. mail($to, $subject, $message, $headers);

So all you have to do is make a form, send the form to the above php, and your done!

Here's for the contact form, take it or leave it. Modify it, sell it on ebay, print it out and eat it for lunch, do whatever with it.

Now, for the site:

First off, I don't like the fact that the content rides so close to the edges. Could you add some padding to that sucker?!?!?

Try to format your homepage better. I think everybody (myself included) has this issue...we all need to work on it. Perhaps just include the first few lines of a post after the first one, and hows about an introduction? I mean, who are you and why am I here (speaking of which, what is here).

Your menu could really use some standing out. Maybe a lighter background behind it all the way across the content area where the menu is...and, uh, make the periods the same color as the links or vice versa (hehe....didn't think I'd notice huh). I would actually consider making a neat little (were talkin' 8x8) image to separate the menu items.

If david kicks so much ass....then WHY HIDE IT!?!?!? Your text in your header is a little too light to justify the strong words it displays! Darken those bold (not font wise) words up!

I like the graphics on the site....they are nice and simple, yet effective and pretty. I think the site needs some color though....and I don't have any suggestions as to how to implement it (sorry).

Your forum could use some work. The graphics (or lack thereof) kinda make it less impressive than the rest of the site. Consider making it only span like 750px and not the whole page (the way it is makes it look dead).

I think that is all I can pick out without lookin at code (which I don't feel like doing right now). Later!

Hi,

When I load page, I see 'enter here' without underline.
Below it, it shows a <

Your blog looks fine, but with some graphics it would look better.

Your site looks good, and organized.

To me it looks like it could use a bit more color, unless thats not what you are looking for. And as far as the bottom, I duno about all that down there, kinda takes away from your clean, sleak look.

The site's header is really impressive , simple yet effective. The colors used are really nice. Centering the useronline and hits would make it look better. Best of Luck , Really Clean site !

Hi,

Your site loads pretty fast.

I would suggest adding underline to 'enter' at the entry page. And maybe add a small and attractive version of your logo above it to make your visitors curious to see what's behind the 'enter'.

At the next page, you have a very well designed flash animation, but the animation is already finished when I blink my eyes ;-)

Maybe the animation should start a second later, then the page has been loaded, the eyes are used to the page and THEN see the animation.

Good luck with your site.
