You guys know the drill :)

Any feedback, suggestions, comments and critiques should be posted here. It's okay, you can be mean :P
The site is Detect Security Systems and is a local, regional security and alarm systems company.

And since you can't review this part, here's an image:

When a user with administrative rights is logged on, those blue boxes encompass all editable parts of the site, so (s)he can just point and type.

To tell you the truth, the site looks nice and tells what it does.

you have only 1 error because you didn't close an img tag <img src="src.kpg" alt="alt txt" />

http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http% ... ne&group=0

I recommend that you fix it :) I prefer valid sites, but it doesn't play around with the layout or anything. Doubt regular users will take notice to that

About the blue boxes and administrative rights... that looks neat and a great concept... easy CMS right? Or did I misunderstood that thing and what it's for?

Great job on the site if you worked on it... if you didn't, it sucks  just kidding, even if you didn't work on it, it's still great job to whoever worked on it.

Yeah it's a CMS. And yeah, it's mine :P
Well, I developed it anyway. I'm not getting any validation errors...and there's nothing even remotely close to src.kpg, so I'm not sure what's going on.
I threw up that temporary email encoding image on there to test it as I was already in the file manager, so you may have just validated at a bad time.

by src.kpg I mean to say src.jpg and as an example but that is irrelevant as you know that stuff already :). I guess I did validate it at the wrong time  Don't do that to me haha just kidding.

Great stuff neksus, great stuff... anyways, did you do that for a company? Or are you starting your own security company :o?

Probably not lol.
Like I said, it's regional :)
If you ever move to northern Saskatchewan, though... ;)

Overall I think the site looks nice and professional.

I do think there are some readability issues with the small gray text over the background with the gray house, though. Maybe darker text or a lighter background image would help?

Also, I thought it was interesting how you used a combination of divs and tables for layout. Wouldn't the code have been a lot simpler using divs only?

Probably - but I was running into some issues and the overlying table ultimately fixed all the problems. There were some issues with certain areas not being long (height) enough, and some divs started acting weird layout wise once the overflow:auto kicked in - the table allows the graphical layout to stay the same even if the text inside the div gets too big.

Cool, that makes sense. If it works, it works, right? :)

Anyway, nice job on the site. I think it looks pretty pro.

Thanks :)
I've been out of the loop on the design side for a while - I was almost done the original draft of this site and decided to scrap it because it well, sucked. That was actually a recurring theme last month - with 3 days left on a 2 month deadline I decided to start over :S
The site should be live in a few days and it will probably end up here, too - it seems to me like it's missing something and the folks here never fail to point those things out ;)
