In my opinion there is just too much on the main page, too overwhelming for the user

I've got to agree with SimpsonsMovie2007. There is a lot on one page. Other than that, everything looks good, apart from, there is a lot of white.

This site is really nice. I added my site and it was very smooth and intuitive. Better than a lot of the directory sites I have seen on the internet. Very clean layout also.

You need your MAIN UNIQUE SELLING PROPOSTION to jump out at you. Right now your page loads and no ONE POINT grabs my attention.

I won't comment on the design - I assume you are working on it..

Some things from me:

- it's not clear which text is a link and which - not. You have to rollover to see the link effect

- when I go inside the directory, it's good to allow to return one or more levels up with a single click, e.g this text 'Business Economy » Manufacturers'
should be clickable, if I click on 'Business Economy' I should be able to see all branches of the Business Economy' section.

- all links to other websites open inside the same window - better open them in a new window, otherwise these links will take the visitor out of your site

- when the search did not find any matches - display some text 'no matches found' etc, currently it shows just some blank space

- on the home page there's no need to display the categories twice (in main area and on the left)

- maybe you can leave more white space around the search box, to make it noticeable, after all this is the main area in your site

- maybe make the search slightly more attractive, add advanced search, etc (e.g I'm not sure if your search works the same way as google search, do you search in the site description, title, etc)

I'll check it again when you're ready with the design! Hope the above helped..
