First point - lose 1 or ten of the nested tables. Or all of them. Second point, stop using frontpage - it puts so much extra unneccessary code into the pages. I don't know if dreamweaver does the same but your html file is 36.3k with only 5k of text - I make that 30k of markup. Thats a crazy size for a basic layout. It could probably be done in 5k, 10k and the most.

This is 100% personal but I never like lists of articles like on the front page, I think I have lazy eyes and can never be bothered to look through them all  I just kinda lose focus on the screen. I like articles to be categorised or something. Thats just me though. Maybe just the articles from the last week/two weeks - I see they are very regular.

On the other page with articles I would use headers to indicate the article titles, like at:

http://www.alistapart.com/

I like the way that I can instantly see the article name, and can decide straight away if it is relevent to me or not.

I'm also not keen on the link colours but now I am just being fussy! It is a nice site and looks very well run. Congratulations.

Nice site, good design...

Though, the layout is a little too suppressive...

Maybe if you use a few more bright colors at the dark places, that' d smooth it up a bit, and make it more attractive...

Or do it the other way around... use a bit more dark colors on the bright places...

You can also make contrasts...
For ex. use bright gray, with black borders and white interiors...
Then on another part, use blue-gray or so...

See if you like it.. mess some colors... the best is to use a program like PhotoStudio / -Shop, and then you can see which colors fit together nicelly...
Then define the colors with a rgb(RRR,GGG,BBB) or Hex color definition...

And then you have an attractive site, worth looking at...

Don' t make it look too complicated, and not too much images...
Slower modems take longer, and that takes away visitors...

Also, I' d place a white/darker background on menu hovers... you know, on the left...
That would make it look even better...
You can simply solve that with CSS...

I like this site a lot. The only thing I don't like is that there's too much white area (IMO). My screen res is 1400x1050 and it looks like too much white space.

In 800x600, it sidescrolls. AVOID SIDESCROLLING!

I like the stylish, minimalist look of this. I think you should ditch the shoutbox. In my experience, I've had too many people hack them/write stupid things/cause general problems.

The Google ads at the top are too far over from the logo, and this is what appears to cause the sidescrolling problem.

Use cell padding, your text is too close to the borders. As rtm223 pointed out, quit using Frontpage. It puts so much junk in the code. Using Dreamweaver by itself is much better, or the best option would be to do it by hand.

Why are you linking to a stylesheet and then writing out a stylesheet in the head section? It totally defeats the purpose of linking stylesheets!

Also as rtm223 advised, kill the tables, use divs. Dreamweaver is much more friendly towards layers than tables.

PM me or reply if you need help or more suggestions.
