http://www.goggansinsurance.com

Please check out my website. There are still a few things I need to finish up like getting photos for each topic etc. and getting some form pages in so I can get information. Tried to build it so that I could add more pages later such as resources and other info. I would appreciate any feedback. This is pretty much the first time I have ever actually put something I have made on the web.

Any tips and pointers would be cool also.

Thank you in advance

All right wow ... A page that has valid HTML and CSS ... nice one ...

it seems like your page width is set to 110% or something like that because in all resolutions there is a horizontal scrollbar ... I think it's the div#centerdoc ...it's got a width of 100% and then also padding of 5px on either side ... which makes it (100% + 5px) ...

you've got a really nice looking menu there, but the rest of the colours don't fit with it or vice versa ...

please make the link of the page that a user is on unclickable and in another colour (or rollover state), for example if I am on the "Locations" page, make the locations button unclikable and another colour, so that users can see which page they are on, and don't redirect to the same page they are on ...

To be honest I don't like your header image ... it's too plain, and pixelised aswell ...

Then in the right hand top corner you've got those numbers there, but that line interferes with the text, think about moving the line, or moving the text down a bit ...

i personally don't like the colours ... they seem too "bushy" to me ... it seems more like the colours associated to a lodge or game-reserve or something ...

On the "personal insurance" and the "commercial insurance" pages the headings are underlined, but the lines carry on straight through ... i don't like that vert much, it feels as if they should rather stop ...

on the contact page it would be nice to see some photos of the people there ... I see you've got some, but it'd be nice if they were all there, or are they evil looking people?

Also on the sitemap page the table\div ends right underneath the text ... maybe give it some padding-bottom ...

Thanks for the input.
Think I have gotten the width issue fixed. Also, I moved the phone numbers in the top over a bit. Not going to change the colors or the line under the headings. Pictures of everyone has been difficult since we are all in different cities, but I am working on that. See if that appears to have fixed the width issue. Still got to work on the other stuff.

Thanks

P.S. Righteous what are some of your websites I could ck out.

RT do you care to look at my site again to see if the width issues have been resolved. I made some minor adjustments and it may have messed it up again.

thanks

-Width issues still there.

-Menu bar doesn't fit-it's sleek, shiny, and the rest of your site is brown.

-Main body font: big, black, thick text on a dark background. I think it needs more contrast. Either a different color, or make the background lighter. Something else about it seems weird, maybe the text is just too big. Make main body text smaller or thinner. Maybe use a more "professional" looking font.

-That 'email us' button seems a bit tacky and doesn't fit all that well. Also, in FireFox, it doesn't work right.

-I wish your address wasn't so far below the "Mailing Address" header. It would be nice if it was right under it and maybe a little bigger. I think it needs to stand out more. Maybe it's just the dark background that causes this.

-I like your insurance pages. But what bugs me is it's hard for me to read. Maybe it's just me. But see that lighter brown color you use in your header? Why not switch that around with the body background color? Actually, I just tried it and it's better.

Other than that, nice site. It's clean looking. Not too crowded at all. Biggest issue is the nav bar. The sleek silver and blue rollover do not fit at all. Personally, i'd design the site around the nav bar colors, but what you probably want to do it change the bar to better suit your site.

Try this ... It seemed to work ...
Code: [ Select ]
#title {
position: absolute;
z-index: 10;
width:98%;
margin-top: -10px;
margin-left: 0.5%;
font-weight: normal;
background-color:#cCbC74;
}
  1. #title {
  2. position: absolute;
  3. z-index: 10;
  4. width:98%;
  5. margin-top: -10px;
  6. margin-left: 0.5%;
  7. font-weight: normal;
  8. background-color:#cCbC74;
  9. }

Another thing I just saw ... The page that a visitor's on now doesn't have a link anymore (I like), but it still has a rollover, which I think should rather be just a static image ... My opinion ...

Hi Goginski,

If you have any questions about anything I've written please feel free to contact me at info@provenseoservices.com.

I liked your site, especially your logo. The colors were unique too.

Had a couple of suggestions for your content. I know it's difficult to proof your own work. The first sentence I'd change to "Welcome to Googans Insurance, family owned and operated since 1987." Then you can change the main header to something with keywords in it, like the types of insurance you provide. Be sure to the proper heading tags too.

Second sentence/first paragraph reads "Use the links below to both Quote and Apply for a policy online"
You might want to change to "Select an insurance solution below to receive a quote or apply online."

The first line of the second paragraph....you might want to add an "s" to "specialist". And anywhere in the text where you use "we" "our", etc. try replacing or adding keyword terms to that.... like instead of "we" use "As a preferred Alabama insurance agency, we..."

And people looking for insurance shouldn't be "you" but rather "as someone looking for affordable health insurance, you..."

In the title of the page I'd get rid of "home page" and add a keyword phrase like Alabama insurance agency.

Your ALT tags for images could be optimized with keywords too.

Great site and good luck!

Christina
