Yeah yeah yeah. I know that it is not too good for my site to have a subdomain as my official website address. However, it's free! I would just like some informative input pertaining to the site set up. Click on this: http://www.cocolatecafe.bravehost.com. Thank you! :wink:

I think that the font is way too hard to read. If you want to use that font in the logo and/or header, then I would think that would be okay, but not for the entire site...I would recommend Arial or Verdana. As for the paypal buttons, I read the instructions and it is pretty confusing or too involved when I am sure that other sites offer easier methods. I would recommend looking into adding ecommerce to your site and streamlining the purchase process.

Hi, I agree the typeface is naughty, but dont use Arial, it is just as bad. Second the pic goes across the page so you have to scroll, not a good feel. Last of all the colour scheme is a bit un-easy on the eye.

Now that I've reviewed the site, I see what you mean about the text being a bit hard to read. However, I kind of like the font :D . Do u think that I should possibly raise the size of the actual font so it can be easier to read :infinity:

I think the previous two posters nailed the main points:

1. Typeface. At the very least do not make all your font bold and italic. Remove the bold at least of the paragraph text and it will be better. I would remove italics as well and change the typeface to Verdana or Tahoma. A combination I like to use is Verdana for my body/paragrpah text and Tahoma for my titles.

2. Color scheme.
The purple is a little overwhelming - do you have a reason for using it? Does it have siomethign to do with your site/readings?

3. Main page positioning.
The image your #extracontent2 div is exceeding the div container. Either re-position the container so the image fits inside it and the user doesn't have to scroll horizontally to see it, or simply make the image smaller to fit the div in it's current position.

You may want to utilize the space to the left of your page, there is some empty space there you could use better.

4. HTML. Have a look at the code below. It's a little messed-up (2 html, head and opening body tags), I'm not sure if this is something to do with Bravehosts services?

Code: [ Select ]
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd">

<html>
    <head>
        <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" />
            <meta name="keywords" content="" />
        <meta name="description" content="" />
        <meta name="author" content="" />
        <title> Main Page @ cocolatecafe.bravehost.com  - A Bravenet.com Hosted Site            </title>

        <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="style.css" />
    </head>
    <body><!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd">
<html><head>
</head><body>
  1. <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd">
  2. <html>
  3.     <head>
  4.         <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" />
  5.             <meta name="keywords" content="" />
  6.         <meta name="description" content="" />
  7.         <meta name="author" content="" />
  8.         <title> Main Page @ cocolatecafe.bravehost.com  - A Bravenet.com Hosted Site            </title>
  9.
  10.         <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="style.css" />
  11.     </head>
  12.     <body><!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd">
  13. <html><head>
  14. </head><body>

Best wishes and good luck!

I will try the excluding the bold thing. That probably would make a lot of difference. However, I like that color. It is one of the color schemes that bravenet provides and so happened to select that particular one. I love that color. However, I am all ears and I really appreciate your input. It really has me thinking :D

Hey guys,
I finally made my new and improved website without a sub domain. Homestead has wonderful templates and I think I made a great choice. Give me your honest reviews and compare my current website with the old one.
Thank you,
Coco Brown

The new layout is much better but it doesn't say "psychic".

The colors on the new site are much less offensive and the text is a lot easier to read. They are nice and light. The colors on the other site make my eyes want to explode.

Having your own domain name instantly makes you more credible to the user.

The only other thing I'd suggest is getting better photos. They look like they were taken with a web cam and are pixelated.

Thank you for your honest opinion and insight. I am working on finding better pictures and you are absolutely right, I did take it from a web cam. A cheap one at that! :lol: It doesn't help that I am not photogenic either. Anyway, I hope to find a better pic soon.
Thank you

I would suggest that you cut out your face from that picture, and paste it into something like a flower or something... that makes it a bit more artistic ;)

Although I do not like what you do in your personal life, I must say, nice site, it looks nice.

On the page
http://www.psychiccocobrown.com/testimonials.html the picture is overlapping the line downwards from the orchid.

Cut out your face in the picture in http://www.psychiccocobrown.com/about.html
so you lose the squaryness. Improves the picture almost immedeately. I would again suggest pasting and blending it on a different picture, like a bright light shining or something and fading into white.
The title(browserbar) of this page is about us... change it in about me cause it's clearly about you, and I assume you're only one person ;)

Your links page is empty... remove it from plain view or put some links there so people have somewhere to go.

Also, make a page for testimonials where you put testimonials(made up or real ones, no one's gonna know) of people having luck with your readings and stuff

you need to market your "gift" if you want people to believe it.

http://www.psychiccocobrown.com/products.html as browser bar title you have products there... you don't produce anything, you're giving a service... make the title correct.

and uhm....

use a spellchecker.... and a more professional formatting.

My agreement with you: Coco Brown guarantees that all info submitted to her is completely confidential and will not be sold or shared with other persons, organisations or institutions.

Thats about all...

Thanks Mike. I really appreciate your honesty and your input on my site. With the page names, I am unable to change the links to each page. that is permanent. However, I have changed the links on the page. For example, when you click on the about me button on the site, on the top bar, it will still say about us. So, their is nothing I can do about that. I tried though. As far as the links page goes, I just created this site yesterday. So, the links page will soon be filled with lots of links. Other than that, everything else seems to make sense and I thank you for your insight. :P
Thank you,
