They both seem to pose the same problem for me. Basically, I don't know where the focal point of your site is. My eyes are too busy darting around looking for something to catch their attention and there is nothing.

ok here is one I'm working on tonight
http://www.adrenalinepcs.com/onlinelance/draft.jpg

i guess clients like this look because they aren't thinking creatively and just want to copy the other ones. now i guess the same goes for me. :) i really want to get away form the clone look and have my own style of freelance sites that people like. but i don't know what would look good with this scrip. should i just stick with this style and get the easy 100-200? or think creatively and get some really nice looking sites made?

thanks,
Raj

That is 100% better! the previous was just too basic (no offence meant). This new one looks more professional!

I completely agree with SB. Get rid of the first two and keep this one! Thign is, I don't know if I like the site name, "Online Lance"? I understand that the word lance comes from free lance but without it ti's kinda confusing and may be misinterpreted as some dood name Lance's personal site? Also when you read it out loud, the two l's sound silly.

onLINE Lance, it sounds like a tongue twister or something. Two close.

I'll tell the client that. I'm just using the domains the clients have already bought. keep in mind each of these templates are for different people. I've been working harder on this last one because he's paying twice as much.

here is an update:

thanks again SB and 613flavah! :)

I agree, I think that your first too designs are not only lacking projects (they will of course come), but they are too simple design wise.

Your latest submission looks very professional, I like the icons on the
menu.

I like it it's coming along nicely SSH-Raj :)

Except now the buttons are TOO cute lol. You don't want a professional site to be cute, that's not the image you're projecting. I'm not saying to not use images, but try to use ones that aren't so, bubbly kiddy like

You spelt programmers wrong up top in that last update. Make sure that the siter doesn't look empty on higher screen resolutions......like 1280x1024 or 1600x1200. If you have the site a fixed width this usually solves the problem.

I agree with 613flavah on the buttons. They should perhaps be a little more box-like and not as colorful unless the client is looking to show that somehow freelance work can be fun.

thanks I'll fix that spelling mistake and change the buttons like i said before.

I'm building it at 1280x1024 with the main table at 100% so I'll be sure it looks good on all resolutions. thanks again!

btw i should have most of this site done tonight. I'll post the link up when it's near completion. :)

Instead of looking for free icons to use why don't you make your own? :)
