Hey everybody!

I'm making a new design for someone's weblog.
The theme name is: Bijoux (Jewels).

The site is uploaded here: http://testfabinator.awardspace.com/wf/
The links still direct to the previous design so don't try clicking them.

My question is: How can I improve this site's design?
Some tips?

P.S. The text is Dutch, so please concentrate on the design

Hey Fab,

Wasn't implying anything about the colours, just thought it maybe of interest if you're looking to improve on the design. Personally, I can't design to save my life :S

Good luck.

I actually understand the dutch ... Cool blog ... First thing that bugs me are the rollover, in the top the bgcolor turns to black which I think is a bit harsh on the nice clean white design ... then also the rollover on the left hand side nav are too light, I almost can't see the change ..

then 3 errors in your coding according to the w3c ... click here to see them in action ...

then the background image for the content isn't really visible, I'm struggling to make out what it is ... I know the idea is a "background-image" but I really can't see what's going on there ...

Do you just want a review on the homepage or on all the pages?
Let's leave all our *plum* where it is and go live in the jungle ...

About the black rollover, I forgot to change that. I'm doing a redesign you see.
And for the other rollover, you are right about that. I'll change it into a darker colour ;).

Already saw them, I've mailed the site's owner. I'm only editing the CSS. And that's valid :D .

It's a part of a quartz stone. Only visible in the bottom. I've lowered the opacity to make the text readable.

Just the design of this page.

Thanks for you comments rightious_trespasser :D

Make the categories on the left so that they are pull down menus instead of showing everything at once

@righteous_trespasser
Dankjewel :) . Jij ook goed werk met het commentaar!

@ ROFLORLY
I really don't know if I like that. And I'm doing a redesign u see. The html stays the same. The owner changes his stylesheet into mine and his site looks different.

UPDATE:

I've added some icons ad the bottom, changed the background color of the bar which the icons are in.

Nobody reporting bugs or problems?
I noticed that in IE6 the opacity of the .png files doesn't work so I'm going to convert them to .gif

I like those icons and that background-color ... it looks good ... Then reading your article I assume you own a Mac ... ? Aren't there any program support issues, like programs not working on Mac?

Thanx :)

I dind't wrote that article and I don't own a Mac ;).
But I did work on it. Like the lay-out, but it's not compatible with game and much programs. And it's also too expensive for me....
