This is my first site ever. I would like to get some honest feedback before I begin operation.
The site is not open to the public yet. (still modifying some areas)
Image

how is the navigation?
how are the graphics?
textual wording?

The site is geared towards teenagers involved in music. However, at the same time, we would like to use our site to publicize talented artists.

Thanks in advance! :D

Hey just a few quick items I noticed...the blue on blue, i would suggest something between those two. a drop shadow or something. or maybe a stronger contrast. The top of the page looks great. I think you should have used the same color variation going further down the page. And you have to be careful with blues. Also, the logo looks a little choppy. May want to bump up the resolution. And the footer is out of line with the rest of the page. And you may want to ditch that whole "upgrade to Firefox" thing. I totally agree, but when sites start telling people they need to upgrade stuff, if they don't know what you are talking about ( and you would be surprised how many people have never heard of Firefox )they may get a little skeptical of your intentions. Which I know are good :) But it looks nice so far. Can't wait to see some updates.

The blog has the jog in the footer. This is what I see in FF, IE7 and Opera: ImageImage

And the blue on blue is kind of an overall, you need another color or a stronger contrast there or another shade of blue to make it a little more appealing to the eye. Here are some sites that use blue so beautifully: http://abduzeedo.com/web-design-blue-layouts . I hope this helps! :) Good luck.

ok I figured out why the footer (as well as the sidebar) were all messed up. It was a php coding error on my part.

if the user was logged out then a certain table is not show (which broke the overall code). However, if the user logs in, everything is fine.

Thank for your help!

any more advice?

Off the subject: how long have you been coding PHP? I really want to learn it.

well, I dont really know how to code php.
I basically try to use open source software

for example..
Wordpress (blog)
phpbb (forum)

I then break down how they work, and see what I can modify.

I have been coding HTML/CSS since I was 12, 13? lol
Myspace started it all for me.

As for PHP, probably only a year. But like I said before. I simply break down what I see, and try to modify it to my needs. So I dont really know how to code from scratch. Re-vamping/remixing/re-engineering are probably some better terms that describe my php skills.

Looks good. I agree with the blue colors...a little overpowering.

It's too much work to change everything now. At least it wakes you up
