SITE REVIEW: personal site - www.sinsandbones.com

well, i have been recommended to get my site reviewed here, so i am. i like the feedback people have offered others so i am taking a risk.

as a warning, the content can be controversial - so dont hold it against me.

I find it very confusing when the domain name doesn't match the site's own identification. Are you sinsandbones.com or are you house-of-sins.com?

I like the general layout of the site, the monochromatic look, but there are a few areas that need cleaning up (not major renovation, mind you, just minor repairs):

- Your welcome message, "...disorder site, and more" doesn't really make sense. It should be rewritten for clarity. Is it "a site and more," or is it "eating disorders and more"? Generally before adding "and more" or "etc." to a sentence, one has a short list of items, not just one. For example, "welcome to the original site for eating disorders, including bulemia, anorexia, and more." You don't need "original" and "first," as that's redundant. If it's the original site, then it was obviously the first of its kind.

- Changing the cursor over a link is a little gimmicky when it's not helping the interface. For example, changing the cursor to a question mark over a FAQ makes sense, but the crosshairs just make it difficult to see the cursor and know exactly where you're clicking.

- You require too many clicks to get to a destination. Why do I click on "foundation" on the right, and then have an entire "domain" list on the left? This makes the flow of information on your site unintuitive.

- Most of the links in your "domain" menu load stylesheet-less pages.

- Your "hall of shame" page (I like that idea) is missing images.

- The main navigation area of your "study lounge" page (which, oddly enough, links to /attic ?) is missing the "hallway" link.

Hmm.. perhaps for good reason, since the hallway link is totally broken and looks like it's part of a different site.

re: the sinsandbones.com/house-of-sins.com thing. i used to be house-of-sins.com, that was the old domain. than i went inpatient for a year and lost it. ive just been too proud of the graphics to revamp some of them.

re: hallway, its supposed to be completely gone from all areas, since its a completely different layout. i'll check that out.

re: wall of shame, i'll see if i can find the images.

As per my understanding:-

1) The home page is not that much atractive. It looks dull. Any without any doc into its difecult the purpose of the site

2) The curson does not change for the links

3) Few link page are so different that it looks like i m inside anyother site

4) Link page are colorful that the home page

i quite like the crosshair cursor.

the hotspots on the gallery menu need to be bigger and cover the wording at

otherwise the links appear to be dead.

also, i wonder what the house-of-sins has got to do with it since it neither links nor exists.

you know what, there are too many link in blue over the internet!
maybe youshould try to use links in blue , it's like a stop sign, i'm sure that 99%or a little more drivers will not stop if they se a purple stop sign !
try also to reduce the big image or to use a .gif instead of a .png file doing so will reduce the total page size from 115kB to (let's say) 30-40kB.
