I've been playing around in AS 3.0 with Shared Objects and LIVE Weather Data...

Here is a very rudimentary app, let me know what you think:

Thanks for all the critics and comments, in advance!

Hi, I'm a weather junkie and also not a computer programmer. I honestly don't know what it is you're providing. Could you provide a simple explanation of what this is along with some graphics? Could you put all that programming into a single file for us non techies? Good luck!

Sure. Enter for instance the number 1001 in the input box and hit the button "Enter Code"...

You'll get the weather of some city from around the world. The code is the code that BBC assigns to cities and weather stations globally, so the numbers are pretty much a guesswork which you cna get a hang of if you hit several different numbers.

Conditions are, the numbers must be 4 digits, therefore between 0000 and 9999.

Hint:
From 0001 to 1000 there is a list of the world's most important places.

From 1001 to to 2000 it is Africa, from 2001 to 3000 it is Asia and so on. They are alphabetically ordered within their continent range.

But: Obviously there is no 1000 weather stations in Africa, so at some moment the numbers become BBC's UN-assigned numbers, and then simply point to London.

No, in order to make it easier on you, so that you can remember which codes you already tried I simply added a data gird on the right side which will add the codes as you go, so you are not hitting codes "in the blind".

That's pretty it... :)
