This is a not yet launched urban fashion rating / social networking site.

A little about the concept:

RateMyFresh is an online rating site for the fashion savvy. Members can upload pictures
of themselves and have their pictures rated on a scale from one to ten based on
the way they are dressed and their overall sense of fashion.

RateMyFresh is also a social networking site for everything fashion and a great
way to meet people who share the same interest as you.

here's the testing site:

Tell me what you think about the design and functionality. We tried to keep the design simple.

overall, bad.

the first impression is a home-made low-cost loser blog because of
a) the inconsistent layout elements (random styling)
b) broken layout structure (mixed density of elements, random forms of fotos, etc), and
c) very low quality typography (fonts are awful; study major soc. nets)

also, huge photos resized to 10% of their size are awful.

Hm, I'm glad to have high speed internet :D

4MB for a site is very heavy. At the page you show the pictures, I see small, medium and large sized pictures. What about to give all pictures the same size? It seems for me a bit disordered.

Both of your comments have been very helpful. I am going to save a full size image, a medium size image and a thumbnail image on the server and only display the appropriate one from now on to aid in space and try to keep the images from distorting.

denniscrash, can you be more specific? I've done all the programing myself, the goal is not to order a site but for me to develop it myself. If you could give me more tangible ideas, it would be very helpful.

thank you.

I actully like the layout. If I'm correct your target audience will like it too. Some people like to show off the ir fashion sense, or lack there of. The different size pics remind me of an effect i've seen on myspace and other social sites. It gives it a familar feel.

Good idea and ideal place for people who does not know how to express themself in another way than through the clothes... Anyway I like few elements:
1. nice logo
2. nice main menu

What I do not like is - it seems that there is no order on your site, maybe because of the different sizes of the pictures.

Advertising is taking too much space.
Remove horizontal scrolling.
You should place a "View Profile" link on the main picture before rating it, and not after it was rated.
You should also add the URL of the picture below when rating them.

Your website looks good.
