Razsports, you need to take criticism a little more lightly, there's no need for you to defend your site so much. We're just offering our advice, take it or leave it as you please. These are all comments that you can use at your discretion. If you feel your HTML is up to par, great, cross that comment out and go the next. Same with the rest. They're just comments from our point of view, not ultimate decisions.

Besides, you never know what new ideas you may think of after sitting back and thinking about our comments. For example:

That being said, I do not agree with the site not having a sports feel.

Just let the comments settle in, then work on them. The best revenge against your critics is to prove them wrong, and believe me when I say, we cant wait to see you do just that. :wink:

Dare,

"Razsports, you need to take criticism a little more lightly, there's no need for you to defend your site so much. We're just offering our advice, take it or leave it as you please."

As I said, I agree with several points and thank you.

I just disagree with some points that were made. The talk online is a search engine type of website should stay away from a lot of graphics.

it is true that you shouldn't have too many images but it does need a little more for a sports site. Maybe, just a football in the right hand top corner or something. Also, I would make the search bar thing so that it lines up with the rest of the page. That would make it look more uniform, because at my resolution, it doesn't look right at all.
I don't know why you insist on using font tags. It is a way better Idea to use inline style tags.. that is what all the standards are moving to. Under sports blog category, why use those bizarre characters instead of using an unordered list or an image?

You are so hostile towards people that are trying to help you. People are trying to help and you are offending Ozzu members by arguing with them. You asked what they think. You don't have to agree with it or impliment it, they are suggestions from that person that reflect that specific person's thoughts. About the code, just because people wouldn't look at the code doesn't mean you shouldn't make it as clean as possible, you'll thank yourself later when editing. Your font tags should really be closed at the end of the text it's formatting, not after the first character of the next line or something.. I think that's part of what people are talking about. And, if you're going to have the font the same a bunch of times, there is no need to close and reopen the font tag with the exact same info. Taking that mess out would reduce the file size a little.

Ok well i'm back to Ozzu, i had to get some rest after my first week here it was a head rush. Well anyway to your site... Well here's what I have to say:

1. I scanned your site

Ok the reason I scanned it is because I find it boring. It doesn't have anything eye-catching, So I can't bother to look at it for more than 3 minutes tops. So my tip to you is get something that sticks out. Here's example of what i'm talking about: There are two sites I like to check out flash games on. There is http://www.newgrounds.com and there is http://www.addictinggames.com Now just by looking at the two for perhaps 30 seconds one looks alot more appealling than the others. Now if that doesn't make sense to you I don't know how else to put it.

Lord Kai,

Well, you are comparing game related websites to a sports information/search engine type of site.

Explain this cause on my PC and resolution it looks good. I've tried it with two other resolutions and didn't see a problem.

thanks :)

Lord,

If you thought my site was boring, check out this website: http://www.baseballreference.com/. My site is more or less like that site. You'd be surprised but that site is very popular among sports fans. They receive big time traffic.

I didn't bother to read the previous posts, but it looks like you have some alignment issues. "Sports Blogs Categories" should align with "Sports Rumours" as one example.

"Baseball Rumors, Basketball Rumors , Wrestling Rumors" should align with "Football Directory".

Try cutting your website into imaginary slices or rulers and aligning to that, or use some sort of code scheme to achieve it.

darkermoon,

Thanks, saw your scan of the site. Man, you have a very small screen.
Designing this site is driving me nuts!

actually, you mean high resolution. and yes, I do. it's 1280x1024 on a 17inch viewable size monitor. When I'm designing websites I go into "design mode" with two monitors and a resolution of 1560x1024 and sometimes throw my TV into the mix.

Anyways, back on topic, the site will work fine at all sizes if you set up things to work on percent rather than pixel size. Or, you can do all pixel size and then it will just be small looking for some people (me). But, you should pick one or the other for your site so it all works out and one part doesn't scale the same as the other. Or, if you put one big table around the whole thing, to hold it into the size you want, and set everything else to 100% that would be fine. It all depends how you want to do it.

I did a border around the page, shorta like a page in a box. Not sure how it loooks to others.

what you really have to do is look at the width of all the rest of your page and fix the width of that box to fit the rest.

try changing
Code: [ Select ]
<table border="1" cellpadding="2" cellspacing="0" width="100%">
to
Code: [ Select ]
<table border="1" cellpadding="2" cellspacing="0" width="750">

and
Code: [ Select ]
<table width="100%" cellspacing=0 border=0>
to
Code: [ Select ]
<table width="750" cellspacing=0 border=0>

I think that should bring it to be like most of the rest of the site.. It's very hard to tell exactly what's going on because some of it is using tables and some div and some CSS and some not. so, if that doesn't work, you just have to look into your code to find a solution of sorts.. this is extremely hard card to try and figure.
