Hi everyone, sorry I haven't posted in a while, job got in the way :P

anyways, so I was on the job and I kinda got bored, IT help desks aren't the most happing places in the world, and I started work on the 2nd version of my website... so here it is! [UNDER CONSTRUCTION!!!]
The splash page is kinda disorienting, so I made a new one, thats not in effect yet, this one was just a joke
Website:
http://home.moravian.edu/students/c/sttrc01/splash.html

Splash V2.0: http://home.moravian.edu/students/c/stt ... 2.0.1.html

btw, its very graphix oriented, so I am doing a "56K" version too...

Any comments suggestions? I need help... thanks in advance

That pages looks very busy. :)

Although, a splash page like that would'nt be one of my ideas. Why use a flash page anyway? Are you detecting something? Screen resolution or Flash?

The pop up window does not fit in my 1024 res. Can't see what's in the bottom unless I drag the window up.

The bleding of graphics is good. But the buttons and navigation system could be smaller, leaving more empty spaces and room for content.

The page loaded okay even in my slow connection.

Well..can't say anymore till you put more content in there.

The Splash page was put there because I wanted a link so that I could specify how big the page was. 1024x768 , if there is any way to just go to my website and have it automatically resize into a window thats 1024x768 without a link to it that specifies it, please tell me!!! lol

Also, it seems that people with pop-up blockers can't see it, is there a way around it?
Thanks

Don't have the whole site as a pop-up maybe. I couldn't use your navigation in Mozilla, and, as the window was (as you said), 1024*768, I couldn't see the whole window, as the taskbar was in the way.
Could you not have it open in the same window, and just maximise or something? I don't know what the advantage of a new window is.

oh... hmm.. thought it would make it look cleaner.
I'll re-size it, and maybe put it in a regualer window without the pop-up, but can't do that till I get to work... :(

I could go either way on the layout. Nice job rendering it though.

Splash page? NO! I am a big anti-splash person. Why have the user wait a few seconds to get to where they want to go???????????

Your not selling anything so theres no need to announce a sale, there are no events going on to inform the user....those would be the only exceptions to a splash..in my opinion.

...splash pages... :x

The only reason I put a flash page there was to select the broadband and 56k versions of the site oh and to resize the window. But now I have gotten rid of the resizing of the window, I just have the splash page for an intro, and selection screen

Having a page which allows the user to select which version (low or high bandwidth) is fine before they enter the main page. In fact, its warrented in a lot of situations.

My point was, there is no need for an intro splash page. It's just a delay for the user. There are (as I stated in my last post) certain exceptions which MAY call for a splash, but this is a situation that doesn't call for one....

Actually, I'll just stop right there. Do what you like :D

No need to get any further into my hatred for spash pages lol  [/quote]

I was thinking that if I were a prospective student thinking about enrolling at this college after looking at the website I would want to enroll at this school. The sense that I got was that there is alot you can do if you enroll at this school. I liked your design!

Make it simple, though the layout is not bad.

wow, I can't believe that this post was resurrected?

but since this old post from 2004 has come up. I might as well show off what I have recently done, so much different from what I used to do...

Um, I'm not loving the design that much, but it doesn't look bad at all, just not my taste.
