The Statistics Canada Web Page Contest
Winners' Web Pages
Sponsored by Dissemination Division at Statistics Canada, the web page contest encourages Canadian students from grade K and up to display data in creative ways. The web page (participants can submit more than one Web page) should display data visually and illustrate conclusions that can be drawn from the data.
Categories and Prizes
Prizes totaling $100 may be given in each grade. The winning entries will be posted to Statistics Canada's website. Winning entrants and their schools will receive certificates signifying the honour. Honourable mention certificates may also be awarded.
Closing Date
Submissions must be received by March 31.
Permissions
By submitting a web page, students agree that all rights, including copyrights, are assigned to and become the property of Statistics Canada.
Rules
Pages should fill a screen.
Subject matter is chosen by the participant(s) or their classmates from data contained on Statistics Canada's website (http://www.statcan.ca).
Your web page must include a link to the Statistics Canada data source.
Pages must not contain any marks, names or information that reveal the identity of the entrants.
Students may work individually or in teams. For those in K to 3, there are no restrictions on the size of the team. For the other grades, a team may have no more than six members. Teams may be made up of students from different grades, but will be judged at the highest grade level of a team member.
Entries from grade 4 and up must contain more than one graph. Entries from K to 3 students may contain only one graph and may be digital images of hand-drawn graphs.
Pages must be the original design and creation of the entrants themselves and be posted to a functioning website maintained by the school, teacher or student.
