I think you need a back ground.

Google for Tinyurl. Their service is similar, yet very popular. Actually, I'd say that your site has even copied some of their wording. And their code, as neither Tinyurl nor your site even bother to have a Doctype.

Logo is more important in my point of view.

Well now ... 8 W3C Validation errors ... you can click here to see them ...

Well what can I say this is a very very simple website, to me there's too little going on, really, I wouldn't stay for 2 minutes ... maybe not even 1 ...

Maybe you can change that sample of a long url to something a bit more relevant like http://www.this-is-an-example-of-a-very-long-url.com which would be more relvant.

the google ads really bother me ... I don't like their placement at all ... they feel in the way ... I mean the ads are right where I feel your header is supposed to be ... (which is non-existent) ...
Let's leave all our *plum* where it is and go live in the jungle ...

I pulled up your side along side TinyURL.com, and it is nothing less than obvious that you blatantly lifted content from their site. Entire paragraphs on your site are literally identical, word for word.

Here is a link I created using your "service."
The Beer Monocle. Classy.

You should consider putting the result of the short url on something recognizable, like a different color background with rounded corners, for example. I created http://www.themore.info/51 and i couldn't find the link not realizing it was right there. Maybe I just don't know how to use a website :).

You should fill a background color and create a logo.

Yes that is right. i think it needs a cool logo to make the service image good and truthworthy.
the simple design its ok. but it needs a stylesheet to engage with the logo. its ok if it is simple.. as long it looks professional.

Honestly, I'm not going to complain about copyright infringement, etc. Because, competition is competition. But, you definitely shouldn't use the same content (I'm going off what everyone else said). Also, if you want to compete with a major service like TinyURL (which is very popular), you have to have some sort of advantage over them.

Luckily for you, their web site sucks. So, you can easily make a better looking one, and gain the upper-hand. Also, buy a real domain, nobody likes to go to .info sites, it looks unprofessional.
