A very different kind of website. Looks quite interesting.
Maybe you should resize the image of the wooden man reading the paper on the top left of the screen, as it takes up quite a lot of space - or you might want to swap this with the menu, which is below. This will improve the layout of the website, and will save the user having to scroll down to access the menu. Also, you might want to try editing the picture of the menu, maybe try and blur the edges or fade them a little? Might improve the appearance a bit, IMO.
You might want to make the links at the bottom of the page bold, or a different colour to the scrolling text next to it.

Interesting website though, good luck with it.

Hi JcbTkht.

First of all keep all menus as high as possible. You don't wanna force your users to panic scroll. Users like to see where they can get out quickly if they don't like the content.. makes them at ease :D

Secondly the autoscroller at the bottom needs more space and it goes to quickly I think.

Thirdly I think you need some sort of indicator where you are on the site.

bad_bob00 - How is the wooden man at the top left taking up too much space? Also, thank you for the bluring the image suggestion I may actually do that.
Karsten - Thank you for your suggestions, very helpful. When you are mentioning an "indicator" for you are on the site, you justmean maybe a title at the top of each page? Because if that is the case, there is a title for each page, just found under the main title of "thePaper".
Thank you for your reviews.

Hi JcbTkht.

Yes the title will do if you only have one level in your site structure. Otherwise I would add some "breadcrumbs" at the top of the site.

I have worked for two nespapers.

here is what you could do to improve the site.

Skip the intro page and go straight to business.

The site design works but if I were you I would go more functional and minimize the artistic stuff (like move the oragami bird in the entry page to the upper left hand corner of each page...make it your logo).

Your art will come from your articles and the text itself, for something like this consider verdana or arial.

Wheny ou publish your articles online have a heading font, a subhead font, byline fonts, and article text fonts.

When referring to your own publication put thPaper in italics.

Pfhew..that's all for now.

Thanks a lot for the suggestions frank_tudor.

Seriously, I will take those into mind and most likely make those changes.

Thank you.

I am the layout design editor

I am picking up a vibe from your website...allow me to give you more.

You may want to explore Douglas Coupand's work both online and in print.

He is a believer in negative space and font artistry.

Looks a bit "ALTERNATIVE" - and if it´s the point - well that´s OK then.

If it´s not alternative - you should make some changes... make it more clean...

One more thing JcbTkht. Make the hovers on the menu more visible. The grey disappears in the background.

alax - Thank you, it is suppose to be alternative, but you're right it could be cleaned up a bit. My friend isn't an experienced web page designer, but he is doing great.
Karsten - The "hovers"? Is that how the link changes when you move the mouse over it?
