 O.K. Here it goes.

This is what I spend few hours a week on, I hope someone will like it. A new version of the main page is in works allready, I'am posting this before I finish it to get some un-biased feedback and meybe more ideas. Things I am changing as it is now :

1. Adding logo.

2. Changing the way menu buttons work ( The way they are now if you moove the mouse too fast it's possible that the menu gets stuck untill you point over it again ).

3. Changing the colors so that everything is slightly more visible.

4. Changing the news box to news/shout box.

Do you see anything you love or hate ? ( wil llet me know what to leave be and what to change ).

lol, now when I saw "tube puppy" I had in my mind "Bonzai Kitten", so I was quite surprised by what I saw when I loaded the site

If you hadn't guessed by my Avatar & the URL in my sig, I'm a bit of a reptile nut myself too...

While I'm not a big fan of Flash, I find the layout of the initial page rather intriguing. It's certainly something I've not seen in the reptile industry before, but it looks good so far...

About the only things I'd change on the site, is I'd ditch PetSmart (they do more to harm the reptile hobby than promote it), and I'd add one line to the feeding section of the boa article to say that if their boa will only take live prey (and I've never come across a boa that will always refuse frozen/thawed - I've got a 7ft female Argentine Boa that nails F/T Jumbos in a heartbeat) to NOT leave the boa & rodent unattended.

I've seen photos of a ball python that got eaten by just a mouse that would make your stomach churn. While the snake would've lived, it would have had EXTREME scarring (over 80% of its scales and half of its head had been chewed off), and it would've been an extremely painful recovery, so the snake was put to sleep.

It's not something I'd like to see anybody have to go through again.

Looks nice!
You have some good colors there aswell!
The only bad thing I saw, was the navigation. Was pretty hard to navigate on your site!
8/10 :)

hmmm not bad a few pointers.

i would:
- take out he text spacing effect on the menu rollovers, looks a little confusing and tacky.
- wouldnt overlap the blog ontop of the curve, just looks odd and out of place.
- just have all the links visible rather than having to roll over them to see whats there, there are a nuber of cool ways this can be done.
- a bit odd having the credits in such a small scrollable window.
- i see what you are doing with all the different areas (forums etc) but they all have different looks ( i see what you are trying to do) but theres an inconsistency, and i just found it anoying opening up totally different pages every time i clicked on a link. *** i havent really explained well if you want me to give detail let me know.
- the text is fairly boring, if you are going with the monotone theme you have to layer the text a little by using different style headings, links etc.

but otherwise i like the general feel, clean simple and no cluttered

I think the menu stylesheets could use a bit of work, perhaps a slight color change when you mouse over just to diferentiate between the menu and the text and perhaps underlined text all the time just for the menu..
I dont understand why the logo is flash, I assume you are going to animate it at a later stage.
other than that I like the stylesheet for the login form and I think the design is fairly good.

Thnx Guys ;)

Yes, stylesheets still can use tweaking. I'am also having problems finding the areas I want to modify in the php code of the modules. Not to mention that some of the modules just don't seem to work for me.

I completelly re-did the design, can you let me know what you think now ? The first one was quickly put together, this one is more like something I intended to have.

I was aiming at clear & simple yet informative.

- Try a darker blue (it's ok for the logo).
- Increase the contrast so that we can read the texts.
- HTML far from valid (weirdness).

PS: what is the CMS ?

Yes, the HTML I had to do some pretty weird things in - but as far as I know nobody is getting any errors, are you ? I tested it alot with various ms explorer versions.

The CMS is MAMBO - http://www.mamboserver.com/.

Hmm, let me know how exactly you checked the code ( unless you just looked at the source ), meybe I should do so too. I don;t really care if it validates, but I definetly don;t want to see anyone getting any kind of errors.

quite well done - but...

why do you force me to maximize my browser window in order to see your complete page? O.K., most people have 1024x768 resolutions, so it seems to make sense to optimize a site to this resolution.

I have much larger resolutions on most of my pcs, but I seldom have less than 20 windows open and prefer to have smaller windows for better navigation. So why not confine your pages to a width of 760 pixels as many commercial sites do it? You still could have a column with ads at the right side extending to 950 pixels, but not being able to see the ads would´t upset anyone, I guess.. .
