The .swf format is the Macromedia Flash file format which stands for Shockwave Flash. It is a published Flash file that the Macromedia Flash player reads and interprets. The .fla format is the Macromedia Flash source document for the .swf files. You will need this file if you intend to make changes to your Macromedia Flash presentation (the swf files). The .psd format is the Adobe Photoshop data format which can be read on any machine that has Adobe Photoshop installed. It is cross platform and can be used on both PCs and Macs. The PSD format provides extended support for layering, alpha channels, paths, and vectors. The PSD source file included has the template source files usually in a sliced format which allows you to customize and make changes to the images on your skin. This makes it very useful for customizing your website as you see fit. If any additional fonts are required, they are included with the Photoshop file.

The .html source is the original document for your template. This can be edited in Windows notepad or your favorite editor such as Macromedia Dreamweaver, Adobe GoLive, or Microsoft Frontpage.

The .png format is an image format with Lossless Compression and stands for Portable Network Graphics. It was designed to replace the older and simplier GIF format. PNG files have three main advantages or GIF files: alpha channels with variable transparency, gamma correction, and two dimensional interlacing. Probably the most useful feature is because it is fully lossless, and since it supports 48-bit truecolor or 16-bit grayscale - saving, restoring, and re-saving an image will not degrade quality which is unlike the JPEG format. This makes it an excellent choice for professionals who do not want degraded quality.
