Well, there is not any known algorithm for getting rankings in Yahoo. Just follow Google and use all SEO tactics.

I would focus heavily with on-site optimization. Make sure your SEO Score is high when you take all factors into consideration.

Rankings are going to go up and down...they are not going to be constant, no matter how much optimization you do.

One thing people either forget or don't know is that you can pay to have your pages not only indexed in Yahoo, but also get a boost in positioning. The program is Yahoo Search Submit Pro. Not all those free search listings are free, many of them are PPC...which allows them to get higher placement in the free side, which in turn lowers your positioning.

Yahoo has remained a mystery for many webmasters because they like a combination and formula of both On/Off page optimization for giving websites proper rankings.

Yahoo too likes seeing many links pointing at websites.

there are lot of webmasters that are also using your targeted keywords.. they are also working so hard to rank their websites and probably want to replace your position...
