Hi,

My site comes in in a Yahoo search, but we are not in the directory, though I thought we used to be.

Is it worth me paying the $299/£199 to get onto the Directory ?

Regards,
Moonie

I guess you should check out the thread; What are msn and yahoo good for?

Expert opinion is that it is worth it if you want quick inclusion and the site is really big and specially e-commerce. You also get indexed by google quicker if you are in yahoo and dmooz.

The Yahoo directory is an important part to being in Yahoo. I believe the importance has increased in the past year. I have now many clients with first page listings in Yahoo, and it is their actual directory listing that is showing.

Plus you can get some nice PR depending what category you are in.

I just about get enough orders via Yahoo to cover my costs each year, but I believe it does help with Google Rankings.

http://www.google.com/webmasters/1.html read the bit about Yahoo.

Some topics do better then others in the directory but I personally don’t think it’s worth the money.

Most directory users almost always use the search function first which in Yahoo does very little for you.

But Yahoo Directory listings show up in search. Many on the first page in fact.

Half the searches I do don't show them.

But 1/2 off them do. If I can pay 299.00 to get some great PR links plus possibly top page listings in Yahoo, I am all for it.
