Hello,

Why is it that if i search for extension company i come up a decent number #4 in yahoo .com out of 5,940,000 results

http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=Extens ... fl=0&x=wrt

but when i search in the uk yahoo im not even on the first page when that only finds 5,830,000 results

http://uk.search.yahoo.com/search?p=Ext ... p=mss&tab=

confussed also earlier today if i searched extension company it would be number four but now i need to use the E in Extension to get there, i didnt think capitals would make a difference in seo?

Many thanks,

Glen.

I am having the same problem with my site http://www.***.com

I was involved in another discussion on this forum and the outcome was that my domain name had the .com instead of .co.uk suffix. Also, my hosting is in Canada instead of UK (ie. non-UK IP address).

In other words, the search engines have nothing to tell them that this is a site for the UK market.

I believe it just does not show up in the UK specific searches although it is indexed.

So, I'm planning to bring the hosting back to UK.

I hope this helps.

J

I'm not sure it will help, as your web hosting company might sub-contract the hosting in oz or us..
IMO a tld in .co.uk is the safest solution..
Cheers,
Johann

Interesting observation:

My site still does not come up in UK specific searches for Google but it does show up in UK specific Yahoo searches.

I reckon this is down to Yahoo reading the Meta tags and acting on them.
