I dont know much about it - but with it being an invite yahoo are trying to obviously have more control over publishers than google has and therefore increase the quality websites offering their adverts...

In theory it should mean that you would get less artificially generated clicks - good for your real time monitoring and good for yahoo image ...

Was it specific sites that they invited?

Or was it all of your sites?

Yahoo may have had their sights on your better paying sites through adsense so it will be a matter of leaping across and testing out the differences. The question will really depend on the adverts being served if they are relevant to your visitors and provide what they are after.

I have been with Yahoo Publisher for almost 3 months now. You will have your up days and down days. Make sure to test everything, because some days/pages you will make more in Google's program, others will do better in Yahoo's. Remember you can use both programs on your site, just not on the same page.

Are there any specific conditions for Y! Publisher? Traffic-wise or alike?

I have both ads (google adsense and yahoo publisher ads) displayed on the same pages.
Where does it say that you can not have both ads displayed on the same page?
