Photography Competition #54: Portraits

Howdy!

The next topic is : Portraits. Anything related to it. Be creative!.

Rules: This is strictly a photography contest! No photo chopping, but contrast, brightness, levels and other minor touch-ups (healing tool will be allowed for film and print scans). Please avoid any text on the photograph, except at most a copyright statement, remember distractions like text can take away from the composition. Digital and film photography are both allowed. Only one submission per user will be allowed.

You MUST have taken the image yourself.

Max size dimension: 640px (including border)
Max file size: 150kb
File name: Please name your entry the same as your user name (or as close to as possible if your user name has characters that are not allowed in file names)
(Please ensure your entry meets the above before entering your image)

Length: Competition closes Tuesday Wednesday September 23, 2009

Could be very interesting to see the input. I am going to consider putting one of my old ones up, but not sure yet.

Ah perfect! I just had a friend text me over the weekend to do shots for her demo CD. I'm stoked about this one.

I should specify that it doesn't have to be human portraits, it could also be pets

AWESOME topic!!! I will most certainly put all of my effort into participating here. If only I had a better camera

Just curious for this particular subject, what everyone's thoughts are on "tasteful" semi-nudes, such as this one.

Cool by me, but runs the risk of getting into a debate over the definition of "tasteful", IMO.

The contest ends next week guys and we only have one entry so far?? Could I ask that another mod please set up the poll as I'll be in Belgium when the comp ends and don't know if I'll be online that day.

Actually mine isn't an entry. It was a question. I do plan to enter. Just have to decide what to take a portrait of.

I'll set up a poll if there is more entries. If not then we'll see what happens.

How come the last two competitions were so popular and this one a bit of a failure?

Possibly the subject or just timing. End of summer, back to school, holiday just passed.

But it is a little difficult. Like me for example, I've never done portraits. Never been good at taking photos of people and making them look professional. Not to mention finding someone to pose for you (if you don't already have some shots).

But that's why I'd like to get an entry in. Be new for me.

Like Hurricane says, it doesn't have to be human shots. So, i know you like your cats and i'm sure i have seen a few of your cat photos that could fit the bill easily.

Anyway, i have decided to go ahead and use one of my photographs...



Nothing has been done to the original photograph except for some minor level adjustments. Some of it pretty poor though i might add.

who is that? it's a cool shot I think I have some portraits I could use of my cats to post right before I take off.
