RocketTheme Wordpress Themes Review
"I was recently provided with a WordPress Developer Membership at the RocketTheme website. My initial first impression of the WordPress designs here is that a great deal of attention has gone into the look and feel of each template. Many of the templates use CSS2 and CSS3 features, and have many dynamically run JavaScript effects often based off of the MooTools JavaScript Framework."

Google Introduces the +1 Button
"Yesterday Google introduced the +1 button which is similar to the Facebook Like button in that you can socially share recommendations with the world. I have no doubt Google will start using this data as signals to help rank their pages too. Eventually Google plans to allow websites to place the +1 buttons on their own web pages too, currently it is only showing in the Google Search results."

YMCA Using Joomla CMS
"Over the New Year the YMCA had a major overhaul of their logo/branding, and their websites launched. The websites are a lot easier to use and share a consistent theme between all of the major branches of the YMCA now. One thing you might not realize unless you were subscribed to the YMCA Facebook page early after the overhaul however, is that they're apparently running on top of the Joomla CMS."

URL Shorteners VS GET Variables
"You know, I was just looking at a shortened URL the other day, and it was something like "domain.com/1jx820xu". Then I started thinking about the whole "SEO friendly" URL craze, which in turn lead to good old GET variables (?id=abcdef). Why not just go back to using GET variables?"

If the USPS Goes Broke, What Happens to Free Shipping ?
"I just read that the United States Postal Service lost USD $8.5 Billion in 2010, and some people are speculating that the USPS will go under in 2011. Then I started thinking about the things I just had shipped to me for free this week, all through the USPS. What happens to free shipping if the USPS actually does go under in 2011 ?"

Movember
"Anyone here taking part in the annual Movember? Movember is an annual month long event where men around the world grow a moustache to help raise awareness and funds for men's health issues, such as prostate cancer and depression. There are alot of people talking about skin cancer and breast cancer yet not alot is said about some of the diseases and illnesses men can get that haven't been as heavily invested in. Movember is in my opinion a great way to have a bit of fun, for those clean shaven, and show that you support the idea behind the events."

Who Needs Privacy? Apparently Several Million People
"It looks like the on-line privacy wars are finally going to come to a head. Google, Facebook, and Zynga are among targets of recently filed class action lawsuits accusing them of doing just about anything that has to do with privacy, wrong. I think the lawyers are going to make out better than usual on this one, by the time this is over nobody's going to want to tell anyone their address when it comes time to send out the checks."

Oct 20th, 2010 — Started by sterweber in Flash and ActionScript ForumFeatured Tutorial: Multi-Column Layout Using CSS Float
For this tutorial, we're targeting a layout that has three columns of content with spaces at the top and bottom for a header and footer. The page will be a fixed width and will also be centered in the browser's display area (the figure to your left).
We'll begin with an XHTML page structure in its most simple form. In the <head> of our document, we'll point to an external CSS file.
Once upon a time, web developers used the HTML element <table> to layout content columns. This practice is now recognized as cumbersome and not very semantic.
These days, instead of using <table>, we use the <div> element as a container for content. Once you get the hang of it, using <div> becomes very liberating and greatly reduces the amount of markup needed to layout a page.
This is an intermediate level tutorial that discusses one method of multi-column page layout. It assumes the reader has a good knowledge and understanding of HTML and CSS.
